我的朝圣之路
227In 2013, an Australian man a few months shy of turning 60 decided to walk the Camino de Santiago – an 800km pilgrimage trail across the top of Spain. He had no known religion, and absolutely no idea why he felt so deeply compelled to do this torturous walk. But compelled, he was. He completed the walk, battling a “triumvirate of pain” - a knee that he later discovered lacked any meaningful cartilage, a blister the sight of which would make a grown man weep, and shin-soreness that felt like his lower limb had been split with a mountain axe wielded by a demented troll. Arriving at the end of the Camino, the majestic cathedral in Santiago de Compostela, he expected an epiphany – an answer to the question he’d been asking himself every day: Why am I doing this? But no answer came. So when he got home he wrote a book, hoping the answer would reveal itself in his scribblings. The result was The Way, My Way, a humourous and self-deprecating book that many consider the best memoir ever written on walking the Camino. The book has now been made into a film, and it’s an extraordinary account of a man at a pivotal point in his life, searching for meaning and finding himself undergoing a fundamental transformation so profound that he now divides his life into “Before the Camino” and “After the Camino.” It’s a story particular to one man, yet of appeal to anyone seeking a greater meaning from life. -

471Agneta is a colorful and funny person, but it's not obvious on the surface. She has just turned 49, her children have flown the nest, her job at the traffic office is stagnant, and Agneta feels invisible. Her husband, on the other hand, has found meaning in life by doing ice-cold baths and cycling fast in expensive gear. In a crisis attempt to escape the dull shackles of everyday life, Agneta leaves the safe Swedish life behind to work as an au pair for a Swedish boy in France. However, when the boy, Einar, turns out to be an elderly eccentric demented gentleman, the misunderstanding is a fact. This becomes the start of a messy, life-affirming friendship that turns everything Agneta thought she knew about life and herself upside down. Because how does one really live their one precious life? -

779A ship explodes. A man dies. A man disappears without a trace. Is it an accident or a cover-up for something darker? Documentary filmmaker Nerijus Milerius (“Exemplary Behaviour”) invited his former student Lina Lūžytė (“Together Forever”, “The Castle”) to direct this Lithuanian psychological thriller while investigating Japanese disappearances. Genius cinematographer Vytautas Katkus (worked on Locarno winner “Toxic”) captures the dark subject matter perfectly, jumping between moving cars and shooting in time-lapse. Actress Žygimantė Jakštaitė (“Runner”) plays Lina, a Vilnius morgue medic who becomes fascinated by the mysterious disappearance of a sailor named Vilkas (Wolf). Her obsession leads her to eerie places and disturbing encounters. The clock is ticking as Lina searches for the lost man. -

952The film follows Officer Sandra Perron, who at the height of a brilliant career with the Armed Forces, resigns unexpectedly. The brass launch an investigation that revs up when a photo circulates of Sandra in uniform tied to a tree apparently unconscious. This was not how the career of the first female officer in the Canadian infantry was supposed to end. Besieged by journalists, struggling to adapt to civilian life, and pursued by the investigation, she denies that she was the victim of abusive treatment and refuses to press charges. As Sandra reveals the details of her incredible experience in the Canadian infantry, her training, and tours overseas, it becomes clear this true story is about how her worst enemies were on her side of the front line. Pic is based on the memoir Out Standing In The Field by Sandra Perron. -
